What tile holds up best near the beach in Oceanside?
Porcelain is the safest choice for coastal homes because it absorbs almost no water. Natural stone works too, but it needs to be sealed and resealed on schedule in salt air.
Can you tile over the wood floor in an older South O cottage?
Often, yes, but only after we confirm the floor is stiff enough. Tile needs a floor that does not bounce, so older framing sometimes needs reinforcement or an added underlayment first.
